On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of founding the Faculty of Education, the University of Presov cordially invites you to an international scientific conference

TRANSFORMATION OF EDUCATION IN PRE-PRIMARY, PRIMARY, AND SPECIAL EDUCATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY

September 19th – 20th, 2024

The Faculty of Education is one of the founding faculties of the University of Presov, which has changed greatly over the past seventy-five years. Historically speaking, the faculty has undergone several transformations not only in terms of teacher training, but also in the name itself: from the Faculty of Education (1949), through the Higher Pedagogical School (1953), the Institute of Pedagogy (1959), back to its original name Faculty of Education (1964), most of the transformations having been of progressive nature.

The Faculty of Education started its operation in 1949. The first Faculty of Education in Eastern Slovakia was established as a branch of the Bratislava Faculty of Education at the Slovak University by a government decree dating from May 24th, 1949. The foundation of this branch was laid and, from it, other faculties for university teacher-training gradually grew.

Therefore, in this historical context, the year 2024 is among the most important in the past decade for the Faculty of Education at the University of Presov – it is the year when it celebrates the significant 75th anniversary of its foundation. The international scientific conference Transformation of education in pre-primary, primary, and special education in the 21st century, held in Presov on September 19th – 20th, 2024, is also part of the celebration.

We believe that the 75th anniversary of founding the Faculty of Education in Presov will be just what it deserves to be – celebrated in a festive atmosphere in the presence of renowned experts who, by their participation, will show respect not only to the Faculty of Education and its 75th anniversary but also the long-standing tradition of education in the Presov region, the origins of which date back to medieval times.

General instructions

You can register for the conference using the Registration Form, or in the Registration section of the website’s banner menu by June 30th, 2024. Presentation of papers at the conference should be no longer than 10 – 15 minutes, please respect the time (technical support will be provided).

When writing papers, please follow this template: Download template
Papers are to be submitted in the Microsoft CMT environment at: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/TEdu21st2024
If you do not have an account yet, you will need to register in the system. After logging in, click on the “Create new submission” icon and fill in the title and abstract and insert the file with the paper. You will get an email notification confirming the paper’s acceptance (or the need for its revision).
The deadline for submission of papers is September 30th, 2024.

The conference fee is 75 Euro. Information regarding the payment of the conference fee is specified in the Registration Form. We recommend making the payment immediately after filling out the application form, but no later than June 30th, 2024.

Transport

The train and bus stations are opposite each other. To catch public transport from the train or bus station, use the “Železničná stanica” municipal bus stop, which is adjacent to the bus station. From there, you can take trolleybus No. 38 (direction “Sídlisko III”; you have to take the underpass to get to the other side of the road if you arrive by train) and get off at the “Prešovská univerzita” stop. However, many train connections go directly to (and stop at) “Prešov – mesto” station, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the university. Follow the latest information on the DPMP website. You can find the route of the connections at THIS LINK. Bolt taxis (the equivalent of Uber) are also available in Prešov (you will need to download the Bolt app).
